Joining two FemGen models

I have generated two models in separate FemGen databases.  They should fit together - i.e. points along the join match in space, and  lines have the same divisions.
The iDiana manual indicates that 'substructures may be combined'  - but I suspect this is only in the results environment.
How can I join two (or more) generated geometries together?
