Staggered Heat and stability analysis

By Vitas - Posted on 22 February 2010

Hi
Is there any way to run staggered transient heat analysis followed by Stability analysis. I was not able to run such calculation. The only type that I was able to run is staggered transient heat followed by structural nonlinear. I just think that DIANA cannot do it. Anyone can help??
Thanks
Vitas

Dear Vitas,
As specified in our manuals, see for instance Section 15 of DIANA 9.4 Analysis procedures manual, the potential resulting from a flow analysis can be input for stability analysis. Please send your question with model data file and command file to TNO DIANA support (support@tnodiana.com)  so that we can check your analysis procedures.

Thanks Kesio
I have the Manual for Diana 9.3 is it the same? and if so which part specifically i can find the information?

many thanks

Dear Vitas,
Then you are using DIANA 9.3. Well, then I think you cannot call the stability module (EULER) straight way (the reference in DIANA 9.3 manual is the same).
You need to create first the stress field by calling LINSTA or NONLIN module; then you call EULER module.
Therefore, as workaround for the problem in DIANA 9.3, perform after the heat flow analysis a single step for the
nonlinear analysis with small or null step load in order to create the stress field. Done with that, carry
out then the stability analysis.
In DIANA 9.4 you can do it straight way.
I hope it to be helpful,
