3.2.1 Viscous Damping

Viscous damping is a form of damping which is proportional to the velocity. For all structural elements you may specify Rayleigh damping coefficients to simulate viscous damping.

RAYLEI
specifies Rayleigh damping: a and b are the coefficients a and b to set up the damping matrices C according to

C = a M + b K (3.1)

For Rayleigh damping with lumped matrices, the second coefficient b must be equal to zero.
